Savage Smallmouth Strikes at Hawk Lake

Ted Putnam, from Ontario’s Hawk Lake Lodge, sent a link to this great video that features big smallmouths just demolishing topwater bass bugs. We see lots of videos of trout taking dry flies, but this is the one of the few productions I’ve seen that really captures the savagery of the bronzeback. Fun stuff!

  1. The beauty of living in East Tennessee is that I have great access to trout and smallmouth fishing. This is an awesome video.

  2. I haven’t taken a smallmouth trip yet but I think its coming soon. Looks awesome (and beautiful spot featured!). Thanks for The Tug- was getting tired of the same You Tube videos!

    Tight Lines!

  3. I love watching slow motion video of topwater strikes. I’m always amazed at how long it takes for the angler to set the hook even I know there’s a reaction time gap.
