Mighty Mouse – Alaska Mouse Fishing

Catching rainbow trout on mouse patterns is just about the most fun you can have with a fly rod, and the folks at Fly Out Media managed to capture some great footage in western Alaska this summer. Warning: Lots of whooping and laughing.

  1. That looked like awesome fun. It would appear that you’re using some type of a mouse pattern that utilizes a foam body?

Would you be able to send me a link or instructions how to tie that type of mouse pattern? It would be greatly appreciated.

    Kindest Regards,
    Mr. Peter Warcholyk

  2. Can’t watch this video enough. Brings back my own mousing memories. Need to get back up there. Love them Alaskan bows.

  3. What a blast it combines gorgeous scenery with plentiful beautiful clear water (something lacking in this part of Aus this year) with awesome sight fishing and surface takes AND some spectacular arials from thumping rainbows – love your work!

  4. Crazy video. Amazing fish on mouse patterns. Not sure that salmon fishing in Alaska gets me up there, but using mouse patterns to catch big rainbows does.

And, I would really love adding another H2 to my current set of fly rods.

  5. Wow, that kind of action makes me want to jump in the truck and head north to Alaska lol! Orvis should do some sort of celebrity auction for charity raffle. I would pay ten bucks to get a chance to fish with a world famous actor in Alaska…. Make my dream come true Orvis

  6. I love this video, it truly outlines a fantastic, simple fly that has done work for me and many people at night and day what a great fly it does not get enough recognition.

  7. I’ve watched this video at least 20 times in the last few weeks. It is some of the best mousing footage I’ve yet to see and I’ve definitely spent my time researchin! Thank you for the great production and expect more views from me!
