Fall Run – Steelhead Fishing

Todd Moen, of Catch Magazine, has released yet another of his brilliant videos: “Fall Run is the true story every angler dreams about retelling around the campfire forever. Hooking and landing a steelhead on a fly is not easy. It is arguably the most difficult type of fly fishing in the world. But against all possible odds, luck lands on the right side for the filming of this high-action angling adventure.”

Add the challenges of Mother Nature’s moods, an unpredictable wild creature and one single, split-moment chance to capture it all on film……..and you’ve got a recipe for a movie house flop. 1. Absolutely beautiful! One of those fishing videos that you wish you could have been there fishing along side of them. Todd Moen is amazing, he catches the moments we all want to have!

  2. These dudes are crazy! Takes dedication and perseveriance to catch fish like this! Unlike the streams i fish!!

  3. I loved this video! It truely captures the big picture of fly fishing. Everything from the fishing aspect and not just the catching. Its about being on the river and working it, enjoying it and embracing it and the challenges! Catching… thats just a bonus of fishing. When teaching first responders and veterns to fly fish at the Brattleboro Retreat who suffer from PTSD and substance abuse, the focus is on engaging the river and the present moment . This video really shows that through the awareness one needs while out on a fish adventure. Everything from the joys, challenges and the dangers are pointed out well. Also the mention of the companionship and brotherhood on these outtings is important because it can be a social time and a chance to live outside of our minds and get a little bit of respite from daily routines! Well Done Todd Moen!

  4. Great video. Will be steel heading this week in upstate NY. Would sure like to upgrade to an 8 wt Helios 2.

  5. Todd is truly one of the great “Storytellers” in modern fly fishing. He brings a unique perspective on the sport we all love so deeply and passionately. If you have not taken the time to watch his videos, you are denying yourself a great pleasure. “Up Jeep Creek” may be my very favorite Todd Moen short of all time. It has all the elements of what makes fly fishing such a simple, yet at the same time, complex pursuit.

  6. Seriously I have watched this video probably 10 times. I get goosebumps everytime, this land is one of a lifetime as far as what they went through. Teamwork at its finest, caught on the finest fly gear on the market. BOOYA ORVIS!

  8. Awesome Video. I have never been steelheading but I hope to go one day. Really makes you want to get out on the water with a good friend!

  9. This video is amazing. It reminds me of the movie A River Runs Through It, when Brad Pitt chases that fish down stream

  10. I love the effort put in for this fish. I really demonstrates what steelheading is all about. Anyone who thinks otherwise, is not a steelheader.
